銅鼓形狀像圓鼓，有各式圖案，有的銅鼓上還有蟾蜍圖案(越人崇拜蛙)。銅鼓的直徑有大到2.3米，小的有0.7米。至今中國出土的銅鼓有一千五百多個。在東南亞各地(老撾)也發(fā)現(xiàn)二百多個銅鼓，泰國民間收藏和出土的則有上千個。

Bronze drums are shaped like round drums with various patterns, and some have toad patterns on them (Vietnamese worship frogs). The diameter of the drum is as large as 2.3 meters and the smaller is 0.7 meters. Up to now, there are more than 1500 copper drums unearthed in China. More than 200 bronze drums have also been found in various parts of Southeast Asia (Laos), and thousands of them have been collected and unearthed in Thailand.

“銅鼓”一詞最早見于《后漢書·馬援傳》“馬援出征交趾，得駱越銅鼓，鑄為馬?！敝谱縻~鼓的以百越中的駱越為多,即是黎族與壯族。

The term "bronze drum" was first used in the book "Biography of Ma Yuanzhuan in the Later Han Dynasty", "Ma Yuanzhao Zhengjiao toe, Luoyue bronze drum, cast as a horse." Most of the bronze drums were made by Luo Yue in Baiyue, that is, the Li and Zhuang nationalities.
